The JDD is a framework for building an online business infrastructure. As such, it must be flexible and open enough to support the wide range of varied services required by online businesses.
The JDD has been designed to be flexible and extensible. In its most common guise it is a content management system. But this content management capability can be extended through the use of JDD plug-ins to turn the JDD into a rich platform for online business infrastructures.
These plug-ins exploit the JDD's open programming interface and can benefit from all the core services of the JDD.
The JDD is provided with a number of plug-ins. These plug-ins are free and open source like the JDD but, as might be expected, require customisation to meet the specific needs of any given business.
Given the standards-based construction of the JDD a wide-range of highly capable, tried and tested open source facilities may be easily plugged-in to the JDD.
