The JDD has been designed from the ground up to produce search-engine-friendly websites.
For a website to be easily indexed by a search engine the JDD does the following:
The code that defines the type of page, i.e. the graphical underlay plus the content common to pages of a given type, is a combination of W3C compliant XHTML and CSS. The content created by the page authors using the WYSIWYG editor also yields compliant XHTML.
Site maps are automatically produced by the JDD ensuring that all pages on the website are easily indexed. When a new page is added or a page is deleted the site map automatically updates. The JDD also fully supports the Sitemap Protocol recognised by Google and Yahoo!
The page addresses (URLs) generated by the JDD are always well-structured, meaningful and easy to read.
If you've created an alias at the DNS for, say, www.example.com and example.com, to avoid being penalised for duplicate content, you also need to specify a 301 redirect at the site level. The JDD supports this.
Search engines do not like broken links and penalise your site's rankings. The JDD creates valid internal links automatically and also provides a link checker to check any manually created links.
By using Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) and not having JavaScript mingling in with the HTML, the pages are easy to understand by search engines.
Graphical or Flash menu items are not ideal as links. Simple text links are preferred by search engines and are used by the JDD.
Breadcrumbs (e.g. Home > Products > Benefits ) provide a simple way for search engines to follow meaningful keywords from page to page.
